This is no time for complacency

Over the past few weeks there’s been a lot of speculation about what medicalisation of e-cigs will actually mean. Some people are under the impression that it will only apply to cigalikes with pre-filled cartos. Others have convinced themselves that the definition of an electronic cigarette is so vague it won’t be possible to legislate against them, or that because nicotine base is already authorised for medicinal use it will be possible to buy it freely.

Sorry, but I don’t buy any of this. I never …

Attack of the Ginja Ninja

Attack of the Ginja Ninja

A couple of days ago I wrote a post about a new pro-vaping blog, Redhead Full Of Steam. The creator of that blog is a graphic designer; she’s also outraged at the MHRA’s cack-handed proposals and health minister Anna Soubry’s dishonesty and incompetence. In fact she’s so outraged that she’s turned her formidable professional talents to mobilising vapers against the threat of a ban.

Our combative redhead has already turned a rough concept into the print-ready design we used to create our car stickers, which are …

A new pro-vaping blog to check out

A new pro-vaping blog to check out

The proposal to effectively ban e-cigs has certainly stirred up a bit of a hornet’s nest. It seems like every day something new is being done or planned to fight against this badly planned legislation. Today’s new arrival is a blog created by a UKV member. It’s called Redhead Full of Steam and it’s definitely worth a look. Jo is a graphic designer, and as well as a new leaflet design to hand out to everyone you know she’s creating some amusing images related to …

The Brussels Balloon Job, 10 July 2013

The EU’s ENVI committee will b voting in a couple of hours to decide how they think electronic cigarettes should be regulated. This decision could start the EU down the road to making e-cigs more available than they are now, or it could lead to a terrible mistake that will kill millions of people.

Funnily enough not everyone trusts MEPs to make the right decision on their own, so groups of vapers from all over the EU will be making their presence felt outside the European …

Is This Charity?

On 12 June 2013 Cancer Research UK (CRUK) posted an article on their blog entitled “Licensing e-cigarettes: opportunities and risks“. Now, CRUK is an organisation I’ve always supported – after all, who could not support a charity that devotes all its resources to fighting cancer?

The answer, now, is me. Anyone who’s used e-cigarettes to get themselves away from smoking and the cancer risk that creates may want to join me in finding someone else to donate money to in future.

The blog post started off reasonably …

Help Our Campaign

To help make people aware of the threat to e-cigarettes and why it needs to be resisted we will soon be making our logo available as a car sticker. These will be approximately 12×3 inches with the logo printed on vinyl in black and white, just like it appears above. They will be available to anyone who wants one, and a number of vendors have already offered to send one out with each order.

Unfortunately it costs money to have stickers printed, and we’re just ordinary …

Testimonials

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency wants to regulate electronic cigarettes as if they were medicines. They have announced that this proposal will make electronic cigarettes more effective at helping people quit smoking. What they don’t seem to have noticed is that they are already far more effective than the nicotine replacement therapies that cost the NHS millions of pounds every year.

Right now electronic cigarettes are developing fast. New models appear every month, and there are hundreds of different flavours available. People can experiment …
